2004

Hard Work: New CD with Exciting Ambitions

The most important event in th year 2004 is the recording of the new CD. An open access practising weekend on April, 17th in Schieder-Schwalenberg and music at the mass of university students from KHG on June, 20th are few of the highlights this year.
In addition, can carmina sings in co-operation with the policechoir on Dezember, 5th a Christmas-concert. A lot of practising and 5 times recording for the new CD, published in December. And that was very successful, until year-end, already over 100 CD's were sold.
And at the end of the year, new changings came up: a lot of new singers have been joining the choir, which was good, since at the annual general meeting in Dezember the vision for the next year has been fixed: 2 Shows on the stage in Cologne at World Youth Day.

2003

Open-Air ConCert at Beautiful Sunshine

On February 2nd, 2003 we performed on the 25th anniversary of the kfd on the service and following party, and another carnival-party on March, 1st. New techniques was used: Karaoke for the choir, and that was a great success. Special demand on the following day: service the next day at 10.30hrs. However, it worked well.
After that we started the preparation for the open-air concert on June, 29th in the courtyard of the church of Hl.Geist. We practised a lot, specially the new pop-songs, that usually not belong to the usual can carmina repertoire.
On June, 6th again openair: in occasion with the association of the two parishes Christkönig and Hl. Geist we sang together with canta dios on a ground close to Dürerstraße. September, 21st: parish festivity together with cantilemini on the service.
November, 15th: Service at confirmation in Halle. And on the 3rd Advent we closed the successful year with an acapella performances at the Rorate-service.

2002

Breaking New Ground: Music at Carnival Party

Im Januar 2002 singt can carmina bei einer ewigen Anbietung, und sehr kontrastreich am 9. Februar erstmals beim Gemeindekarneval. Super Stimmung und mal ganz andere Lieder. Das Wochenende vom 15.-17. März gings mal wieder nach Schieder. Man denkt, es gäb nichts anderes - aber dort ist es einfach schön. So verbrachte die Gruppe auch drei Tage mit etwas Proben und viel Freizeit. Pfingsten singt can carmina bei zwei Erstkommunionfeiern in Steinhagen, natürlich war vorher schon traditionell die Erstkommunionfeier in Hl. Geist auf dem Programm. Am 16. Juni findet in der Altstädter Nikolaikirche ein Chorkonzert mit vielen jungen Chören aus Bielefeld statt, can carmina ist mit einem halbstündigen Programm dabei. Und dann schließt das Halbjahr mit einem Konzert in der Ev. Freikirchlichen Gemeinde Bielefeld am 14. Juli.
Im recht kurzen Herbst stand dann noch ein Auftritt beim Gemeindefest am 15. September und die Teilnahme beim gemeinsamen Konzert aller singenden Gruppen in Hl. Geist an.
Der Chor schrumpft wieder etwas, einige waren nicht mehr mit rechtem Interesse dabei. Mit weniger Sängern wurde trotzdem die Qualität eher noch gesteigert, und zur Jahreswende gabs schon wieder 2 Neue...

2001

10-Years Anniversary, Concert and More

Am 7. Januar 2001 geht es mal wieder zur Gestaltung einer Messe in die JVA , bevor sich dann die 22 jungen Leute eifrig auf das 10-jährige Jubiläum vorbereiten. Denn dieses Ereignis soll gefeiert werden!
So geschieht dies dann auch: Bereits am Samstag, dem 17. Februar kommen viele Ehemalige des Chores um beieiner tollen und stimmungsvollen Fete in den Jugendräumen alte Erinnerungen auszutauschen oder sich einfach mal wiederzusehen und eben zu feiern.
Am Sonntag, dem 18. Februar findet dann das große Jubiläumskonzert statt, das alle Erwartungen übertrifft. In einer bis auf den letzten Platz belegten Kirche singt can carmina besonders auch noch einmal die ganz alten Lieder. Und bei den Ehemaligen, die auch reichlich dabei sind, werden viele Erinnerungen wach. Anstatt einer Pause gibts einen 10 minütigen Video-Spot auf Großleinwand. Ein toller Zusammenschnitt und viel Informationen. Im zweiten Teil folgen dann viel Rhythmus, begeisterte Stimmung, ein Finale mit den Ehemaligen und nach zwei Zugaben ein stimmungsvoller Abschied: In der dunklen Kirche ziehen die Chormitglieder nochmal mit Kerzen ein und singen im Halbrund um den Altar a capella das Lucernarium.
Am 21. April gab es dann eine Premiere: can carmina sang ohne den Chorleiter, nämlich auf dessen Hochzeit. Pfingsten gings zu einem Probenwochenende nach Ratzeburg. Dies war ein schönes Geschenk der Gemeinde zum Jubiläum.
Danach folgten dann wieder Erstkommunionfeiern in der eigenen Gemeinde und in Halle. Das arbeitsintensive aber auch erfolgreiche Halbjahr schloss noch mit zwei Höhepunkten ab: Ein Konzertauftritt am 24. Juni in einer Gemeinde in Lilienthal (bei Bremen). Und am 1. Juli gestaltete can carmina eine Professfeier in Neuenbeken mit.
Nebenbei verkauften sich die CD's weiterhin sehr erfolgreich. funkenflug ist nun bis auf einige Restexemplare nicht mehr zu haben. Im Sommer verlassen aber auch einige Chormitglieder can carmina, u.a. geht der letzte Mann der ersten Stunde Martin P. neue Gesichter kommen vom Kinderchor cantilemini dazu. Und der Internetauftritt (seit 1998 ist can carmina online) wird mal wieder etwas umgestaltet und aufgefrischt.

2000

First Own CD and Concert Event

Two new faces at can carmina and with them we reach the 20 on beginning of 2000. On February, the 11th we left again for a weekend to Schieder-Schwalenberg, this time together with te childrens choir cantilemini, and this time with a clear task: Recordings of the new CD. After the recording the CD was mastered and mixed independently of any professionals and was publish before Eastern. klangvoll (full of sound), explains already the motto: nice, full-sound, christian music, but also to some extend surprising different.
Due to the new CD, also the homepage is moving, from a subdomain, at least to the top-level domain www.cancarmina.de. Some other modification takes place in the name and logo. The not anymore appropiate name singing group has been changed to young choir.
In summer 2000 we invest into new technical equipment by building a new case for the mixer and accessories follwoed by a few new microphones, specially adapted for the choir. And than, on August, 27th can carmina makes a great concert, demonstrating, that the reperotire is wide and perfectly performed, and that also with this kind of music a frolic atmosphere can be created. The second half was impressive and burst of applaus showed, that this was a great show.
On October, 15th can carmina performs at the 105th anniversary of KKV in Church of St.-Jodokus and on the following ceremony.

1999

Ambitious Programme and Events

On March, 14th 1999 we had another blessing service in Jodokus church, Biefeld, on März, 21st another service at Ev.-Frkl.-parisch in Bielefeld. At the weekend 26.+28. of March we spent 3 days for practising in Schieder-Schwalenberg. We had nice new songs and a lot of fun in a house next to the lake of Schieder.
On Mai, 9th we celebrated a concert together with other musicians form the parish for collecting money for the new Klais church organ. It was the first time that can carmina performed the Halleluja from Händel. On Mai, 13th and16th another first communion and on September, 12th we made music at the parish-anniversary. September, 25th: Singing in an Oekumenial Service at the Markuschurch, September, 26th we participated in the blessing of the new church organ, in co-operation with the precentorship. On Dezember, 8th we followed an invitation of the district authority for the Day of Honorary Post, and we used it for a small anvent choral concert.
On Dezember, 11th can carmina sang at the Rorate-Service a capella. People were amused, that also without electronic amplifying this choir is able to perform in a high quality.

1998

Second Concert with Great Enthusiasm

This year, we take part in the celebration of the First Holy Communion in Hl. Geist and Werther as well as the confirmation in Hl. Geist. With very much enthusiasm, we had a concert after the holidays on August 30th, 1998. 120 visitors only let us go after two encores.
On September 30th, can carmina sings, because the new cross for our church is consecrated. Another mass in the jail of Bielefeld-Ummeln on November 8th, 1998 gave the inmates a welcome change in their Sunday mass attendance.

1997

Leineweber Market, Blessing Service, First CD

Gig on the Leineweber Market in May 1997, another blessing service in St. Jodokus, 25th anniversary of the 'Dekanatsstelle' in June 1997. In November 1997, the first CD funkenflug comes out. 5 music groups from Bielefeld present recordings with new spiritual music. can carmina can be heard with 5 songs. With a production of nearly 1000 CDs, this was not only an unexpected success, but also our kind of music was spread among many listeners.

1996

First Own Concert

Concert and open singing on June 16th, 1995 is very successful with over 100 visitors. On June 29th/30th, 1996, another music weekend takes place in Bad Driburg. August 28th, 1996: A visit in the Benedictinian convent of Varensell. For an ecumenical evening in Dornberg, can carmina is invited on August 31st, 1996. November 17th, 1996: protestant youth service in Babenhausen.

1995

First Recordings and Interesting Gigs

In the meantime, an MC was recorded and sold; many family services accompanied. On September 16th, 1995 we take part on the day of servers of the deanery of Bielefeld on the grounds of the Ursuline convent and accompany the mass. Another high spot of the year is the musical accompaniment of the blessing service in the church of St. Jodokus on October 29th, 1995. We sing again in the jail of Bielefeld-Ummeln on December, 17th, 1995.

1994

Gigs in Other Churches, New Technical Equipment

From now on (for more self-assurance and to get more demanding in singing), the group orientates itself also over the borders of the parish, for example on March 18th, 1994, the choir accompanies the way of the cross in the parish of St. Libori with their music.In order to make a good impression acoustically, on June 10th, 1994 a 12-channel audio panel and microphones were bought. On June 12th, 1994, we offered a concert with open singing in the curch of Hl. Geist - unfortunately with very little response, but with a contented audience. A this point, 14 persons sing in the choir with keyboard accompaniment and newly joined flute player (Julia Hatwig). 
The name can carmina is created and introduced by Martin P.. Translated, the latin words mean sing songs. Further appearances follow: the group sings a mass in the jail of Bielefeld-Ummeln on August 14th, 1994.

1993

4-part Singing, Small Choir

January 12th, 1993: meeting of the new singing group. Only 8 young people with the ability of reading music and a regular weekly meeting are to bring better results. Meetings every Tuesday, 6pm. Accompaniment by Keyboard; Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Basso (two persons each); 4-part singing is condition. In the following time, some more young people join the group. Knowledge of reading music is important. The repertory and the quality get better.
November 13th, 1993: rehearsal time is moved to Saturday, 2pm -as it is still today.

1992

Rise and Fall

March 1992: First gigs with the new band. Regular accompaniment of the familiy services (each first Sunday a month) begins. Placement in the new church varies, because the best solution has not yet been found and because the group has already 15 members. 
June 27th and 28th, 1992: first music weekend for choir and band in Tatenhausen. Many new songs and a good atmosphere bring not only a better quality, but also some new members. September 2nd and 3rd, 1992: second music weekend with a lot of rehearsals. In the repertory, we divide for the first time between serious music and entertaining music.
November 1992: the group is broke up temporarily by the conductor. Many singers did not have real interest in the music any more.

1991

Regular Meetings, 12 Members

Febuary 11th, 1991: first regular meeting of a small group under the guidance of Stefan P.. Regular meetings of 90 minutes every two weeks on Friday evenings
Irregular accompaniment of church services. Instruments: Keyboard and flute. At that time, a small band was founded which supported the small "Schola". Now, the group has already 12 members.

1990

The Beginning

1990: for the first time, church services in the parish of Heilig Geist were accompanied by some youth with new spiritual songs. The group did not have a name and only came together irregularly.
